Understanding roles

You assign roles to a user account when you:

A role defines what the user can do on the NOW Privacy platform.

You can assign multiple roles to a user.

If you assign no roles at all the user can use:

  • dashboards

  • search

  • automated workflows

  • exports

The roles are:

Reserved for use by NowVertical - grants access to diagnostics but not to data

SecurityManager

  • manage users

  • manage security groups

  • manage roles

  • view login history

  • manage tags

CrawlManager

  • view data sources

  • add data sources

Auditor

  • view audit entries

Report

Not currently used

WorkflowManager

  • view other users’ workflows

  • edit other users’ workflows

  • share workflows with other users

DuplicationManager

  • view the Duplication dashboard

ClassificationManager

Not currently used

EnhancedSecurityManager

This role is only available to users who have the SecurityManager role.

  • view permissions for SecurityManager users

  • manage SecurityManager users

  • manage other EnhancedSecurityManager users

  • enable/disable restricted queries

Notes:

  1. The DuplicationManager works like this:

    • When using the Duplication dashboard, the DuplicationManager role has access to all datasets

    • Otherwise, a DuplicationManager user has access to datasets for the Security Groups that user belongs to

  2. Restricted queries are a special feature in the platform. Please contact our Support team for further information.
