4.2.0 Release notes
New features
RF-1014 Microsoft SharePoint 365 data source
You can now discover data that is stored within a specific SharePoint Site, or across an Office365 tenant with the introduction of our new MicroSoft SharePoint connector deployed in the cloud as part of Office 365.
RF-1015 Microsoft OneDrive for Business data source
You can now discover data that is stored within a specific user’s Microsoft OneDrive for Business, or across an Office365 tenant with the introduction of our new SharePoint connector deployed in the cloud as part of Office 365.
Deprecated features
RF-903 Duplicate Detection
The Duplicate Detection feature is now deprecated. It is switched off by default, due to the potential negative impact it may have on the speed of indexing.
While we recommend that Duplicate Detection remains switched off, this feature can be re-enabled by raising an Exonar Support Ticket. The impact of Duplicate Detection on performance is dependent on a range of factors, including the type of data indexed and the volume of duplicates which exist in the dataset.
We still produce and store document ‘fingerprints’ of every item we index so duplicate items will have identical fingerprints, making it still possible to find duplicated items within the system.
Other enhancements
Items can now be ingested via Windows File Share/SMB, keeping the Last Accessed date.
This enhancement has only been tested against Windows Server 2012 R2, though it may still work on earlier server versions.
To improve Office 365 connectivity, a new ingestion job creation wizard has been added for Exchange 365, SharePoint 356, and OneDrive for Business. This wizard assists users by checking credentials and permissions prior to the creation of each job.
It is now easier to identify particular Office 365 ingestion jobs with a more relevant description displayed on the Data Sources page. Jobs are now identified by:
Connector Type
Path/Domain
Group
User
Minor changes to components within the User Interface have been made more consistent across pages.
Spaces can now be used in the description file on the Data Sources page.
Column headers within the Data Sources page can now be resized.
Users can now create usernames up to 200 characters in length, although very long usernames may not be easily viewable within the user interface.
Added the exoadmin user to underlying system (via SSH) to allow access to various sysadmin tools.
Ability to perform system level health checks with additional tools, command, and scripts coming later. For additional security it will not be enabled by default but can be requested via the Support team.
Bug fixes
A bug which previously displayed a ‘successful deletion’ message upon failure to delete a data source in the Data Sources page has been corrected.
A bug in Enterprise Vault that prevented a full archive scan has been corrected.
Known issues
When crawling Exchange 365 by group, it will only return the first 100 members.
Sometimes not all datasets will be displayed when viewing data sources until you first filter by connection type (Exchange, File Share, and so on).
The New item buttons on certain pages are aligned too high and the first few pixels are cut off by the heading bar.
