Using the extra features of simple search
NOW Privacy's simple search has a set of features that allow you to create more powerful searches very easily:
Click the question mark icon next to the simple search box to see all the options you can use
Type your search terms into the search box
Click the magnifying glass icon to run the search
Search types
Phrase search
Phrase search looks for a set of words in a specified sequence. It is not case sensitive. Example:
Contract of employment
Proximity search
Proximity Search looks for words that are grouped close to each other. You could use it to find documents that contain aaaa within, say, 8 words of bbbb. Example:
“Credit Card”~8
Include and exclude
Allows you to specify terms that must and must not be present. For example:
choose documents that have ‘Card’ and ‘Number’ in their body or title: +Card +Number
choose documents that have ‘Card’ but not ‘birthday’: +Card -birthday
Fuzzy matching
Useful when you are uncertain of the spelling you need to search for or where you want to include documents in your search that contain words that have been mispelled. For example:
acomodation~
This search term finds documents that contain: acomodation, accommodation (the correct spelling), acommodation, accomodation, and the plurals of those words.
Wildcard
Traditional wildcard search.
