Starting crawls manually

There are five options on this page.

Crawl a data source

Use case:

Crawl a data source that you’ve never crawled before.

1. From the main menu select Data Sources

2. Select the data source for the crawl you want to run

3. Make sure you’re on the Overview tab

4. Click Start Crawl

Re-crawl a data source

Use case:

If a crawl ran successfully last time, rerun it to find new, changed, and deleted items. If it failed last time, restart it to try again.

1. From the main menu select Data Sources

2. Select the data source for the crawl you want to run

3. Make sure you’re on the Overview tab

4. Click Rerun Crawl or Restart Crawl

Resume a crawl that you’ve paused

Use case:

Resume a crawl that is paused.

1. From the main menu select Data Sources

2. Select the data source for the paused crawl

3. Make sure you’re on the Overview tab

4. Click Start Crawl

Crawl multiple data sources

Use case:

Use a bulk action to start crawls on several data sources at once.

1. From the main menu select Data Sources

2. On the left, check each data source you want to crawl

3. Click Bulk Actions ⇾ Start

This works for crawls that have:

• never run before

• run successfully

• failed

It doesn’t work for crawls that are paused.

Resume multiple crawls that you’ve paused

Use case:

Use a bulk action to resume crawls on several data sources at once.

1. From the main menu select Data Sources

2. On the left, check each data source you want to crawl

3. Click Bulk Actions ⇾ Resume

This only works for crawls that are paused.
